We have worked with Peter and Lyn at Oakland Homes on two projects now. We have recently completed an ambitious new build for our future retirement in Mangawhai. Peter has been a critical influence from before Day 1 and has guided us through what can be a very stressful and complicated process.

He has a terrific team of his builders and sub-trades who all worked together on our home-all taking pride and ownership in their craft. Workmanship, attitude, willingness to work together combined with years of experience has resulted in our dream home exceeding our wildest expectations.

And a Silver Award at the 2018 Master Builders House of the Year Competition is an unexpected bonus. In our opinion it should have been Supreme Winner- it is to us. We have a beautiful home which will last for generations.

We first connected with Peter Oakden Builders over some small alterations on our bach, and at the time discussed with him our thoughts for a new home incorporating our current bach.

Peter managed the whole project for us, working with us through the planning from concept designs right through construction. Listening to us, and making the changes to meet both our current and future needs.

Even though we live in Auckland, and only made occasional visits, we had complete trust in his professionalism and organisational skills. The whole process from plans to building completion ran very smoothly, and it was a delight to see with each visit we made.

We now enjoy our new home so much, that we make the most of every opportunity to be here. Denise now spends more time in Mangawhai than she does at work in Auckland.

We wanted to build an American style barn with a sleep out that reflected ideas not usually used in a building of this type.

We needed a builder who could take our ideas and turn them into a practical reality, whilst ensuring that we did not exceed our budget. We wanted someone who could adapt to our plans, accommodate our input (with some of the things we were able to supply and contribute in terms of labour).

Peter Oakden Builders took our ideas and preferences and turned them into a practical reality, whilst ensuring that we did not exceed our budget, producing quality work whilst taking on our last minute ideas and changes.. They were pleasant and efficient to deal with consulting with us and keeping us informed throughout.

When we began to investigate possible building options and house plans, we were introduced to Peter Oakden by a third party. We were immediately impressed by his integrity and easy yet friendly manner. His professional approach to our building ideas also gave us confidence and he was very keen to show us other homes he had built in our area.

Our lifestyle block is quite steep in parts and we wished to take advantage of the views. This required some engineering challenges plus the construction of a two level dwelling. Peter handled all of the engineering and design component of the job for us as well as the construction and made what could have been a difficult process very easy.

The advice and guidance from Peter was much appreciated leading up to and including the build and this made our first experience of building a house a most satisfying experience.
